Fiona French Fry Amigurumi Easy Crochet Pattern for Fun

Crochet This Adorable French Fry! Meet Fiona – Your New Favorite Snackable Friend

A Super Quick & Easy Beginner Amigurumi Pattern

Introduction

I have a confession to make: I'm a snacker. Late at night, when the house is quiet, you'll often find me with my crochet hook in one hand and a little bowl of something crunchy in the other. The other night, I was looking at a perfect little french fry and thought, 'That would be the cutest amigurumi ever!' And just like that, Fiona was born. She's a tiny, salty, smiley friend who works up in less than two hours, making her the perfect project for an evening in. If you've ever made one of my other foodie friends, like Rosso the Tomato, you'll know how much fun these little guys are to create.

Why This Little Fry Will Steal Your Heart

Fiona is more than just a cute pattern; she’s a little burst of happiness. She's ridiculously easy to make, which is perfect if you're just starting out or need a quick win. Seriously, if you can make a little ball, you can make Fiona! The pattern uses basic stitches and minimal supplies, so you can probably whip one up with yarn you already have. She makes a fantastic keychain, a desk buddy, or a tiny, quirky gift for the foodie in your life. I've already made a whole batch to surprise my friends with!

Choosing Your Materials

You don't need anything fancy for this project, which is part of its charm. I grabbed my favorite worsted weight cotton because I love the stitch definition it gives. For the fry, you want a really happy, golden yellow. For the carton, a simple cream or white does the trick. It's the same kind of yarn I used for my Puddles the Tiny Duck pattern, so it’s super versatile! Don't stress too much about the exact yarn, just use what makes you happy.

Supplies needed for the project laid out neatly: yellow and white yarn, crochet hook, safety eyes, and stuffing.

Assembly

  1. First things first, let's give Fiona her personality! Place the 6mm safety eyes on the french fry body, somewhere between rounds 9 and 10, about 4-5 stitches apart. Remember to snap the washers on tight!
  2. Using a small strand of black embroidery floss or yarn, stitch a little smile right between and just below the eyes. I like to make a simple 'V' shape for a super cute grin.
  3. Now, pop the finished fry into the carton. It should be a nice, snug fit. You can add a little more stuffing into the carton around the fry if you want it to be extra secure.
  4. Using your yarn needle and the same white/cream yarn as the carton, sew the fry to the carton. I just make a few small, neat stitches around the top edge of the carton, catching the stitches of the fry to hold it in place permanently.

Pro Tips

  • Use a stitch marker! I know, I know, we all think we can count, but when you're working in a spiral, it's so easy to lose your place. A simple bobby pin or a scrap of different colored yarn works perfectly.
  • Don't overstuff! You want Fiona to be firm, but not so packed that the stitches start to stretch and show the fiberfill. A little squish is a good thing.
  • If you're new to this whole crochet thing and the abbreviations look like a secret code, don't worry! I have a whole guide on how to read crochet patterns that breaks it all down for you.
