Friendly Crochet Ghost Pattern Spooky Boo Amigurumi
Not-So-Spooky Boo: Your New Favorite Crochet Ghost Friend
A Free Beginner-Friendly Amigurumi Pattern for the Sweetest Halloween!
Introduction
The other evening, I was chatting with my sister on the phone, and she mentioned my little nephew, Leo, is going through a 'scared of the dark' phase. With Halloween just around the corner, I wanted to make him something that felt festive but also… friendly. I didn't want a spooky ghoul; I wanted a comforting little buddy. So, I grabbed the softest, cloud-like white yarn from my basket, and in just a couple of hours, this little guy was born. I call him Spooky Boo, but honestly, there's nothing spooky about him! His tiny wave is the sweetest 'hello,' and he's the perfect size for little hands to hold. This pattern is so simple and works up incredibly fast, making it a perfect weekend project. It’s just as quick and satisfying as my little Puddles the Tiny Duck amigurumi pattern, and I just know you're going to love making him as much as I did.

Gathering Your Ghostly Gear
You don't need much for this little friend, which is part of his charm! I used a standard worsted weight cotton yarn in a soft, off-white. I find pure white can sometimes be a bit harsh, while an ivory or natural shade gives him a warmer, more handcrafted feel. For the eyes, simple 6mm safety eyes are perfect for that classic amigurumi look, but you could also embroider them with black thread for a softer touch, especially if you're making this for a very little one. The key is to use a hook that creates tight stitches so none of that fluffy stuffing peeks through! It's amazing how the same simple materials can create so many different personalities, from this little ghost to a classic Teddy Bear Amigurumi.

Waving Arm (Make 1)

- Rnd 2-4: Sc in each st around (3 rounds). (5 sts)

Assembly Instructions
- First, let's give Boo his face! Place the 6mm safety eyes between rounds 9 and 10, about 5 stitches apart. Secure the backs firmly on the inside.
- Time to stuff! Gently fill the body with fiberfill. Make sure to stuff it firmly enough to hold its shape, but don't overdo it, especially at the base. We want him to sit flat and not wobble.

- Take the little arm you made. Don't stuff it – we want it to be flat and wavy. Using the long tail you left, sew it onto the side of the body, somewhere around round 11 or 12. Position it so it looks like a friendly little wave.
- Optional smile: If you want to add a tiny smile, use a small piece of black embroidery thread and make a small 'V' shape a round below and centered between the eyes. It's these little details that give characters their soul, much like my favorite little Pikachu Pal!
- Weave in any remaining ends, and your Spooky Boo is ready to haunt... in the friendliest way possible!
Pro Tips for a Perfect Ghost
- Use a stitch marker! It's a lifesaver for keeping track of your rounds, especially when working in a continuous spiral.
- To make the wavy bottom flare out a little more, you can gently steam it with an iron (don't touch the yarn directly!) and shape it with your fingers while it cools.
- Feel free to get creative! Add a tiny top hat made from black felt, or a small colorful bowtie to give your ghost a dapper personality.
