Pineapple Cowboy Crochet Pattern: Free Amigurumi Guide

Howdy, Partner! Crochet Your Own Pineapple Cowboy, Tex!

A Free, Rootin'-Tootin' Amigurumi Pattern with a Sweet Twist

I have to confess something. This little guy, Tex, started as a joke between my husband and me. We were talking about the most ridiculous combinations we could think of, and 'pineapple cowboy' just came out. We laughed so hard, but the image stuck in my head. A sunny, sweet pineapple with a brave cowboy heart. I just couldn't shake it! I grabbed my brightest yellow yarn, a rich brown for the hat and boots, and started sketching. There’s something magical about bringing a silly idea to life, watching the stitches pile up and a personality begin to emerge from a simple ball of yarn. He's a little bit quirky, a whole lot of sweet, and he's been making me smile all week. I hope he brings a little bit of that sunshine to you, too. It’s funny how inspiration strikes, isn't it? One day I'm lost in the elegance of a project like my French Rooster named Henri, and the next, I'm crocheting tiny boots for a fruit!

Gather Your Supplies for the Rodeo

Before we saddle up, let's get our materials together. This isn't a project that needs a whole lot, which is lovely. I chose a worsted weight yarn because it gives a nice, solid feel to the amigurumi. You'll want a yellow that's as bright and happy as a summer day, a deep green for that classic pineapple crown, and a rich, leathery brown for his hat and boots. The kind of brown that tells a story, you know? I’ve been on a real kick making these adorable food-themed friends lately, ever since I finished my cute little strawberry pattern. There’s just something so joyful about them! Grab your favorite 3.5mm hook, some safety eyes that sparkle with adventure, and plenty of soft stuffing to make him nice and huggable.

Supplies for the crochet project: yellow, green, and brown yarn, a crochet hook, and safety eyes.

Assembly Instructions

Alright, this is where our little friend truly comes to life! It's my favorite part.

  1. First, arrange the green leaves for the crown on top of the pineapple's head. Place the small one in the center and the medium and large ones around it to create a nice, full look. Use the tails you left to sew them securely in place.
  2. Next, place the cowboy hat on top of the crown, tilting it just a little for that extra dash of personality. A few stitches around the base of the hat will keep it perfectly in place.
  3. Now for the boots! Position them on the bottom of the pineapple body, slightly towards the front. Use the tails to sew them on firmly so Tex can stand proud.
  4. Finally, using a bit of brown or black embroidery floss, give Tex a little smile! A simple 'V' shape right under the eyes works wonders.

Pro Tips

  • Don't be shy with the stuffing! A firmly stuffed amigurumi keeps its shape best. I like to add bits of stuffing as I go, especially right before the opening gets too small.
  • To make the pineapple 'dimples' pop, use the back of your tapestry needle to gently push the yarn between the stitches of the textured round (Rnd 17).
  • Want to take the cowboy theme even further? You could crochet a tiny brown band for his hat or even a little lasso from a piece of twine!
  • Tex would look absolutely adorable next to a trusty companion. I think he'd be great friends with the character from my Gallop into my Heart Spirit Amigurumi pattern!
